Certified Health & Welfare Services Manager (CHWSM) - Exam Only
The Certified Health & Welfare Services Manager (CHWSM) credential recognises professionals who can demonstrate core management knowledge and capability relevant to health, community and human services organisations.
This exam-only pathway is designed for experienced managers and professionals who have developed their capability through prior study, professional development or workplace experience and do not require completion of the CHI preparation course.
Candidates undertake the CHWSM certification examination to demonstrate capability across key areas including leadership and management, workforce management, quality and risk, governance and compliance, service delivery and operations, and professional judgement.

Any founder, leader, manager, supervisor or emerging professional in the aged care, disability, mental health, allied health, or medical sectors.

This is an exam-only certification, which means there are no taught courses to complete.
The exam is a take-home exam and you are given 72 hours to complete it, from the time it is sent. It is open book.
The exam consists of multiple choice and short response questions, and one longer, case-based question which has multiple parts.
We provide a syllabus that contains a helpful reading and watching/listening list, and we recommend you engage with those materials in preparation for the exam, to help ensure you meet the expected levels of knowledge and skills required to pass.
You will also be given past exams and other sample exam questions to work through.
In addition to the exam, you will complete a short viva voce (conversation) in real time via Zoom or similar technology with an accredited examiner.

For convenience and proper organisation, you must enrol and pay for the exam at least ten (10) business days prior to your preferred date of sitting the exam.

Minimum 18 years of age.
Competent English speaking and writing communication skills.

During 2025-2026, the exam fee is $660 (GST inclusive).
Exam fee must be paid upon enrolment, prior to sitting it.
If you fail the exam, you are entitled to one (1) resit of the exam at no additional cost. However, if you fail twice, you will need to re-apply and submit the fee again.
While we do provide exam feedback for all exams, it is at our sole discretion as to what level of comprehensiveness of feedback we will provide in response to any failed exams.
